A “by the skin” shot ❤️
.
. Don’t worry, I managed to save these products before they got waterlogged. 🙈 This series was inspired by a mix of @ohuprettythings’ absolutely gorgeous bathroom photos & @georginaloasby’s amazing water photos! 🥰 Hopefully I was able to put my own spin on it but even so these ladies gave me the idea to explore in the first place. 😍 They are both incredible creatives!
.
. I think because I live in an aesthetically ugly-ish house, it’s hard for me to be as creative with photography as I used to be when I lived at my Victorian style apartment. I’ve been dying to paint and put in hardwood floors so wheeling around is easier. We came thiiiiiis close to doing so (we even started the renovation process) but I have zero energy for a reno & finances are way too tight for any realistic changes. So the reno is put aside and I’ve been making do with my little vanity area and pretending the rest of the house is that pretty & relaxing (it’s not 😂) However despite the mess, illness has taught me to be grateful for what I DO have, even this little sink area. ☺️ It’s actually a yellow toenail color in real life but thankfully flash photography & editing makes it look creamy white instead haha.
.
. Today I wanted to share some affordable & midrange products with you guys. The majority of these I purchased myself but PR is noted with an *asterisk.
.
. Glow Recipe Watermelon Pink Juice - $15 (purchased in set with other products) the full size is a tiny bit overpriced based on how quickly I use it up, but $40 for 2oz isn’t the worst I’ve come across, especially for high quality glass packaging. I’ve been looking for a dupe for a while since this makes a gorgeous serum (but it’s useless as a moisturizer for dry/dehydrated types), and I finally found one for almost HALF the price per oz!! I’m saving this dupe find for my upcoming dupe blog post. Can’t wait to share! ☺️ @glowrecipe
.
. Collosol Cleanser - $16 I never hear of Collosol in the skincare community but it’s a huge cult classic in France!

. I want to briefly talk about cruelty-free body care and body positivity. It seems appropriate to feature one of my fav CF body care brands - @soldejaneiro. Their prices are not crazy cheap but totally fair for the quality of product. 90% of SDJ products come in at under $25 which is very affordable, but even the few items they sell at 30+ have sample size options so you don’t waste your $$ until you KNOW it’s worth it & works for you. ❤️
.
. Another thing I love about @soldejaneiro is their drive to share healthy body imagery in their feed, ads, etc. The founder of the brand, Heela Yang, mentioned how healing it was to move to Brazil and find body confidence and acceptance in all shapes & sizes (compared to the harsh “perfectionism” of New York). Heela’s idea of beauty is FEELING beautiful MAKES you beautiful, not the other way around. Bum bum cream is all about accepting your body exactly where it’s at, appreciating it, and feeling sensual without having to fit into stereotypes. I do hope that their website will feature a more diverse set of bodies in the future but I’m SO grateful that their IG feed is fairly diverse with beautiful people. 😊
.
. Anyways, I finished their coco cabana gel-cream recently and while I already loved their bum bum cream, this new addition to the SDJ fam is even better IMO! 😍 I HAD to get a second jar. It doesn’t smell anywhere near as good as bum bum but the formula is beyond worth the scent. Coco Cabana is actually better than half of my FACIAL moisturizers, for real. It’s super rare to find a gel formula in a body care product. Especially one this good at hydrating the skin.
.
. Here is a quick rundown of the difference between bum bum & coco cabana.
.
✨Bum Bum smells better - like pistachios, caramel, & coumarin.
✨Coco Cabana smells like popcorn flavored jelly beans (not the best, but it’s totally worth suffering through for hydration).
✨Bum Bum pills when combined with a body oil.
✨Coco Cabana never pills!
✨Bum Bum dries matte & is better for oily skin.
✨Coco Cabana dries glossy and is better for dry and dehydrated types!

.
. @sulwhasoo.us is a brand I’ve been dying to try for years. It’s yet another AMOREPACIFIC owned line (like laneige) that is known for its gorgeous textures, innovative formulas, and efficacy. I tried their first care activating serum which is meant to be used in conjunction with the rest of the line. Unfortunately the first care serum is the only product I have from Sulwhasoo so I couldn’t use it as directed; but it did work beautifully with my other essences and serums.
.
. You’re supposed to use it as the first step after cleansing, before toners, emulsions, & other serums. This product contains denatured alcohol as the 3rd ingredient which I always avoid with a vengeance simply because it’s so stripping for the moisture barrier. Alcohol definitely allows other ingredients to penetrate better but I’m don’t think it’s worth risking your skin health to do so. So I compromised! I couldn’t bring myself to apply this much alcohol straight to the skin after cleansing so I used it instead AFTER my emulsions and thick serums so my skin is more protected and there are tons of layers between my skin and the alcohol content. The consistency of this serum is absolutely gorgeous, a deep amber color and nice thickness. It’s like milk & honey for my skin and soul (it contains honey, licorice root, cocoa extract, green tea, and other beautiful botanicals to soothe and hydrate the skin). 🍵🌹🌿
.
. All in all I’m pleasantly surprised by Sulwhasoo. I doubt I’d repurchase the first care activating serum simply because of the alcohol content but I’m dying to try the balancing emulsion, essential revitalizing serum, snowise brightening emulsion, overnight vitalizing mask, radiance energy mask, luminature essential finisher ex, snowise brightening eye serum, and essential firming cream. You can get all of these cheaper via amazon! Link in profile — I’ve added them to my amazon shop under “discounted skincare”! #Sulwhasoogiftedme @sulwhasoo.us #findyourbalance #sulwhasoo

. Also do you like the warm tones of this photo? It’s because I used the amazing @beaute.defile’s photography presets! Continued in comment...
Hello friends! I’m not sure if I’ve ever featured this medicine cabinet before but I thrifted it a few years ago and as much as it’s a pretty boring/basic cabinet I do love it. I have nowhere in my house to mount this thing but it brings me so much joy regardless. On the front is a massive mirror so I just lean it against my vanity and enjoy.
.
. I know I promised a rundown on @herbivorebotanicals last month but I’ve been struggling SO much to even post, let alone blog. Despite having tons of content written out and hundreds of photos, most days I’m too tired to even click that “post” button and tag brands. Let alone comment and respond to DM’s. It’s ok, we’re all doing our best and there’s no reason to feel guilty about these things. Posting and interacting should be a joy, not a chore. But the only part of this that makes me sad is about not blogging. Mainly because I want to help people save their hard earned money (am I the queen of negative reviews yet? 😂) I have some overhyped brand blog posts to do & also have a budget post I’m halfway through!
.
. IG is filled with ridiculously expensive luxury goods and I’m sure most of my followers are tired of that. It’s unattainable for most. Even a decent mid-range product at $40 is way too expensive to afford on minimum wage salary (which unfortunately too many people in the US are living on). When you think of adding 10 $40 products to your routine suddenly we’re up to $400 which is quite high. I wanted to write a post about the cost of skincare, budgeting your routine, what’s realistic, etc. Don’t get me wrong, I like a luxury item as much as the next person and once in a blue moon, I feel the quality really IS worth that $100+ you had to spend on it. But realistically with the rising cost of healthcare, medication, transport, food, housing, etc you could be stretching that $100 so much further. There are some amazing brands and products available for so much less. OR you could be like me and only buy luxury goods on a massive sale (these herbivore goodies were almost 1/4th their usual price).

Happy Monday friends! I already shared these photos in my stories a few weeks ago (along with a review of @amorepacific_us’ color illuminating compact which I adore) but I wanted to post them here as well because I didn’t go over these beautiful nail polishes yet.
.
. @flora1761 might be the most exquisite nail polish brand I’ve come across all year? This female-founded, 8-free, cruelty-free (leaping bunny certified) brand is inspired by the historic elegance of flowers and botanicals. The seven colors they chose for me are absolutely GORGEOUS: desert brush, speckled hellebore, painted fern, garden rose, black iris, crimson peony, & sheer camellia. I live for nudes and these look like something out of a Victorian first edition. 😍 They remind me of watercolors, herbal teas & botanical gardens.
.
. And don’t get me started on the formula. It’s absolutely beautiful. Dries smooth. Dries quickly, layers easily, & lasts for at least 4 days without chipping if you use a base and top coat. The formula itself is 10x better than j. hannah’s (why does no one ever mention how terrible their actual nail polish formula and brush is? The colors are beautiful but that’s where the delight ends. Flora 1761 on the other hand, has a formula that lives up to the beautiful color range).
.
. On the website you can see each botanical that the nail polish was inspired by. Finola tulip, dogwood, English ivy, star magnolia, passionflower, bougainvillea, black satin dahlia, brunia, hamari gold, aralia leaf, lily of the valley, & scotch thistle are on my list to buy next! I just need to narrow them down a bit. These are on the expensive side of things at $16 a bottle but they’re so much better than my j. hannah polishes and they offer gift sets to help bring the cost down (only $13 a piece when bought in a set). They also have a 15% off code for new customers which really helps.
.
. Lastly, @supergoop’s new launch - daily moisturizer spf 40 - has been making my skin sing with joy (albeit silently). I think it’s a bit too hydrating and moisturizing for oily skin but combo, normal, and especially dry skin types will ADORE this. It’s so serum-like on the skin -
